Welcome 2020-2021 School Year

Welcome to our wonderful school! This school year marks our 55th year “preparing minds for a lifetime and souls for eternal life”. Who would have known we would be celebrating it under the current circumstances!

Our school has been providing challenging education since its inception. Our teachers, parents, and students worked really hard to adapt and end the 2019-2020 curriculum. We are very proud of our academics and we can be sure our students will not fall behind this upcoming fall. With the direction of the diocese, our school has made the necessary changes to keep providing the excellent education we are known for. (If you are interested on the guidelines we will be following, please click on this link: https://d2y1pz2y630308.cloudfront.net/2633/documents/2020/7/Plan%20to%20Return%20to%20School%20St%20%20John%20the%20Apostle.pdf).

Our faculty and staff are using this time to get ready for school to start. We are taking every precaution to keep everyone safe, from keeping small classes, to keeping desks at distance, maintaining the usage of masks policy, taking daily temperature, an additional sick room, etc; and we do understand if some families decide to sign up for distance learning. We will cater the same education “virtually”. We sure miss seeing the students’ happy faces.

Our garden beds are growing wild and are waiting for our students to tend them. Our chickens are well taken care of, Mrs. Timmermann, Mrs. Felton, Mrs. Keifer, and Fr. Jack have been taking turns to care for them throughout the summer break, but I do believe they miss the children as well.

What will this year bring? We hope it will bring us “hope”. Hope that it brings out the best in all of us in our school, our neighborhood, our community, and our country. Hope that faith will keep us strong. Hope that love will be an integral part of our daily life.

The theme for our school year is “Live life with faith, hope, and love”. Along with our theme, we will continue to focus on a different Catholic Virtue each month, social ministry, and creating opportunities for family activities at SJS during this pandemic time. Become a part of the SJS family and stay tuned for more!
